NEW YORK– Members of the Cebu Clergy Performing Artists will entertain and inspire Filipinos in New York City with a selection of enchanting and enlivening music.
The group consists of Reverend Father Arven Pretila, Fathers Rudy Ibale, Kipling Agravante IV, Zachary Zacarias, Joselito Gutierrez and Msgr. Guillermo Gorre.
The singing priests hope to reach out the greater Filipino community in the big apple as part of their evangelization effort through their “well-blended voice and terpsichorean, and hilarious acts and comic style.”
The two-day NY show, a part of the group’s 2014 US-Canada Tour, is aptly dubbed “Saulog”, a Visayan word for celebration. It will showcase the rich Filipino tradition, faith and heritage and as a fitting tribute to Filipino Saint, Pedro Calungsod.
The NY concert will be held on September 4 and September 5, at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center in Manhattan and in San Sebastian Catholic Church in Queens, respectively.
Proceeds of the Saulog Concert will help rehabilitate some churches in the Philippines damaged by natural calamity and to renovate the seminary of the Archdiocese of Cebu in preparation for the 51st International Eucharistic Congress that it will host. | Ethel Constantino, NewsDesk
