GOV. Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao appealed for calm and sobriety following an incident of massacre in the town of Wao in Lanao del Sur on Saturday, April 25.

At least four people were killed, including a child, in what was considered as an act of vendetta for an incident of rape and murder on April 23.

Reports said the incident on Saturday in Barangay Park Area also resulted in the wounding of at least 8 others, including two pregnant women.

“We are appealing for calm and sobriety in the face of two grisly incidents of violence that shocked the town (of Wao),” said Hataman on Monday as he said that the ARMM regional government is condemning the incident.

“There is not enough words to describe our grief over these acts of violence that resulted in deaths,” he said. “But we are still doing our best to get the complete details of these unfortunate incidents.”

The municipality of Wao is one of the most progressive towns in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and this is mostly because its Christian and Muslim residents are living and working harmoniously with each other.

“I have ordered the police to immediately conduct a probe and to ensure that the incident will not escalate and result in more violence,” he said. “Once again, we ask everyone to stay calm and trust that we are doing everything to get to the bottom of these incidents.” | JMT, NewsDesk
